“All I want to do is help people!”
Setting up a business is a big task that most people don’t fully prepare themselves for. The health and wellbeing market is booming right now, but that still doesn’t ensure success. Things like marketing, strategy, customer service and finance are all important things to consider.
But often for socially-conscious entrepreneurs (like you and I), we don’t like to deal with this stuff. We just want to help people. It’s a beautiful ideal, but no matter how much we rely on grace, flow and spirit to deliver results for us, we never get very far without engaging the other half of life – structure and order in a grounded and focused way.
HOWEVER, you needn’t be depressed by the idea of it. There are actually only a few things you need to do in order to have a well-functioning business, without needing to juggle it all continuously.
“I still just want to help people…”
I hear regularly from entrepreneurs that they have the gifts to change peoples lives, they are inspired and they may even have a large audience. Yet there seem to be blockages to them moving forward. They feel confused, overwhelmed, stressed out and doubt themselves.
This can lead to difficulty getting organised, maintaining interest and energy levels whilst working with the “machinery” of the business and a general confusion about how to get things done.
It’s a scary mountain to climb!
But these are just symptoms… What’s the REAL problem?
It’s actually ridiculously simple…
1. They lack clarity on their current resources
2. They lack focus on a future direction or goal
3. They have become imbalanced by a lack of structure in how they do things
NONESENSE! I hear you saying, “it isn’t that simple, David… There’s a creative process to consider. There are other things going on in my life that pull me around. There are so many things that you’re not taking into consideration.”
If that’s you, STOP right there… Adopting a structured approach, choosing a direction and knowing what resources you have to put into that process is supportive of everything else going on in your life. That is, if you actually do want to launch a business that has a positive impact on people’s lives. You will defend your stories until the end of your days, unless you’re willing to listen.
So please just stop it, and read on.
Okay okay, I’m listening, so what can I do about this?
1. Get perspective
Clarifying where you are now in terms of time, money and skills will help you calculate risks more effectively, as you will know exactly what you have to work with and what you will need to bring in or find out in order to move forward.
It can be liberating to know that you don’t have all the answers, and nor should you. When you have perspective on your current situation, you will be more receptive to the abundance of opportunities that you are ALWAYS surrounded by.
2. Have a goal
Deciding where you want to go in life and with your business is essential, especially if you want to have others on your team at some point. That doesn’t mean that you write a highly specific, measurable, time-based (yada yada) list of goals that you must religiously stick to. It just means, getting clear on what you want for your life and business, merging the two as much as possible.
You should review this list of desires every 2-4 weeks to ensure they’re still relevant to you.
3. Make a plan
Once you know where you are now, and where you want to go, it’s a simple matter of deciding what sequence of events need to happen in order to take you from one to the other. Because every problem has a solution.
A little bit of planning, saves a lot of messing about later, so it actually saves you time in the long run. That plan could include how you manage your time, hiring a team or installing technology to do the jobs you don’t want to do, so you can focus on the creation of your products and services, and delivery of your gifts to the world.
The mountain doesn’t look so scary any more, hey?!
So what has this all got to do with me?
Well I’m a business coach for healers, speakers, teachers and social entrepreneurs and the founder of The Ethical Organiser – a personal and professional life-lifting service.
Based upon the principles of clarity, focus and balance, my revolutionary coaching packages provide my clients with the tools necessary to strip back the gack from their life – giving them the freedom to pursue their dreams unhindered.
I have extensive experience within a vast array of different industries, sectors and occupations. I’ve obtained a degree in computing, and then a masters in business management.
I held a number of responsible positions within the steel industry, various private limited companies, a martial arts school and an environmental charity.
Why hire a coach?
Being so engulfed by our business, our ideas, all of the tasks that need to be completed, whilst trying to juggle all other aspects of our lives can be challenging. It is extremely useful to have someone on your side, who is removed from your every-day reality and so can help you to see the wood (as well as the trees).
Even better if this person has an awareness of business, and your particular industry so they their suggestions have some grounding in what ACTUALLY HELPS GET BUSINESSES GOING… A good coach can help you achieve a quantum leap in your ability to get yourself out into the world.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, confused or doubting yourself yet know you have something valuable to offer, don’t let the strain drag you down. Hire a coach to help you through the tough times, so you can move into the future empowered and independent. I’d love to be that coach, because I want you to succeed and I feel responsible for making sure that people who wish to have a positive impact in the world have the best chances possible to do so.
My clients say:
“I have a team, I have support, I have accountability and I have direction. Making the investment in my business – both financially and energetically – has opened up new possibilities and horizons. Thank you David!”
– Gayatri Beegan, Tantra Massage Training
“What David’s offering is so needed. It’s the kind of thing that everybody needs to realize they need. Surrender and flow simply ain’t cutting it if we want to build a proper business. I’m super grateful for his contributions to my business, and for what he’s contributed to our overall operation.”
– Eivind Skjellum, Reclaim Your Inner Throne
“David is a rare jem! He brings such a down to earth approach to what can seem a daunting tangled mess. He guides gently and steadily to the places I try to hide from myself, and then probes fearlessly until I crack. Still then he’s there to hold and encourage until the illumination inherent in my blind spots come into view.”
– Cat Nightingale, Dakini Cat
“David is really good with what he does. He has been helping me with my project management system, policies and procedures, determining priorities, training and hiring staff, brainstorming future directions, and has been an excellent sound board. Highly recommended !”
– Eyal Matsliah, Intimate Power
